Pocketpair has announced Palworld Official Card Game, which is, yes, a real and fully licensed card game based on its monster-catching survival hit Palworld.

The game launches on 30 July and is being developed in collaboration with Bushiroad. It’s designed as a two-player competitive card game that leans heavily on the ideas that helped Palworld explode in popularity when it launched.

That popularity was no small thing. Palworld became only the second game ever to pass two million concurrent players on Steam during its debut in 2024. Pocketpair is clearly hoping to carry some of that momentum into a tabletop format.

According to the official website, Palworld Official Card Game focuses on strategic, tactical battles that centre on deploying Pals. Players won’t just be fighting, either. Much like the video game, they’ll be gathering resources, building up their bases, and working alongside Pal companions to gain an edge.

Each Pal card will have unique traits designed to encourage different playstyles and strategies. Victory won’t just come from brute force. It will come from choosing the right Pals, managing resources well, and timing your moves.

“Team up with your trusty Pals and experience the thrill of overcoming formidable enemies through this exciting trading card game,” the site says.

At the time of writing, Pocketpair hasn’t shared pricing details or revealed specific cards. On the official Palworld Discord server, the studio has told fans to stay tuned for more information.

The announcement is another reminder that Pocketpair isn’t slowing down, even nearly two years after Palworld’s explosive release. That journey hasn’t been entirely smooth. The studio has been locked in a legal dispute with Nintendo over alleged patent infringement.

Recently, though, things appear to be shifting in Pocketpair’s favour. A rejection of one of Nintendo’s patents in October has complicated the case and weakened Nintendo’s position.

For now, Pocketpair is focused on expanding the Palworld universe. Whether the Official Card Game becomes a long-term hit remains to be seen, but it’s clear the developer is committed to keeping Palworld in the spotlight.
