Valve Rumoured to Reveal "Steam Frame" VR Device and New Steam Controller This Week
Valve might be gearing up for a major hardware reveal this week. According to known dataminer and leaker, SadlyItsBradley, the company could announce a new VR-focused device—possibly called [Steam Frame](https://amzn.to/4nSMegp)—alongside a revamped [Steam Controller](https://amzn.to/47OYpox) as early as Wednesday, November 12.
The Steam Frame name was first spotted in trademarks a few months ago, sparking speculation about Valve's next hardware move. Now, a move could be imminent.
But this isn't a return to traditional VR. Based on the leaks, Steam Frame isn't likely to be a full-fledged headset like the Valve Index. Instead, it's said to be more in line with Apple's "spatial computing" philosophy—enhancing how we experience standard games through subtle, immersive environmental effects.
Think of a screen that interacts with your room: dynamic lighting, real-world shadows, maybe even virtual elements layered into your space. The goal appears to be making flat-screen gaming feel more immersive—without going all-in on motion tracking or high-end VR specs.
This approach echoes the design thinking behind the [Steam Deck](https://amzn.to/4oAF3ej): accessible, all-in-one hardware that prioritises affordability and usability over bleeding-edge performance.
Alongside the Steam Frame, a new Steam Controller may also be on the table. Rumours suggest it will include traditional inputs—buttons and analogue sticks—while possibly integrating advanced features like finger tracking, similar to the Valve Index. It's also expected to work with the new Steam Frame system.
An image of the controller was shared by SadlyItsBradley. However, he clarified it was an AI-generated mockup based on the real design. "It's an AI slop photo," he wrote on Discord. "Trained on a real image of the new controller. It was just fast and easy to do it this way. I was not going to post the original one just in case it reveals any sensitive info from the source."
As always, this is unconfirmed information and should be treated as a rumour for now. But if Valve does make a move this week, it could mark a significant shift in how we think about immersive gaming—less about escaping reality, and more about enhancing the one we're already in.
