8BitDo is expanding its gaming controller lineup with the Ultimate 3 Controller for Xbox in Mossy Lagoon. This new officially licensed Xbox controller combines a distinctive nature-inspired design with advanced gaming features.
Scheduled for release on November 30, 2026, the controller features TMR joysticks, adjustable joystick tension, Hall Effect triggers, additional programmable controls and an integrated wireless charging dock. It will be available through Amazon UK for £79.99.
A Nature-Inspired Design
The Mossy Lagoon edition takes a different approach to traditional gaming controller designs, drawing inspiration from water, moss and the small details found in nature.
Its playful, pixel-inspired aesthetic gives the controller a distinctive identity while keeping the familiar Xbox controller layout.
8BitDo describes the design as:
A pixel world with a palette drawn from water, moss, and small living details. Light. Playful. Alive. A place that feels both drifting and grounded—somewhere to explore, somewhere to rest.
Beyond its look, the Ultimate 3 Controller also features an improved grip for greater comfort during extended gaming sessions.
TMR Joysticks and Adjustable Tension
One standout feature of the Ultimate 3 Controller is its TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) joysticks.
Unlike traditional potentiometer-based analogue sticks, TMR technology uses magnetic sensing to detect movement, helping reduce the mechanical wear associated with conventional joystick designs.
The controller also introduces 8BitDo's Force Ring adjustable joystick tension system, letting players customise the analogue sticks' resistance to suit their preferences.
This added flexibility could be particularly useful for players who prefer different levels of stick resistance across competitive shooters, racing games and other genres.
Hall Effect Triggers and Additional Controls
The Ultimate 3 Controller features Hall Effect impulse triggers with two trigger stops, giving players more control over trigger travel.
The adjustable trigger stops let users switch between different levels of travel depending on the game. Shorter travel helps with faster inputs, while longer travel delivers a more traditional analogue trigger experience.
For extra customisation, 8BitDo includes two pro-level back buttons, plus extra-fast L4 and R4 bumpers.
These extra inputs add control options without forcing players to move their thumbs off the analogue sticks.
Wireless Connectivity Across Multiple Platforms
The Ultimate 3 Controller supports multiple connection methods, making it suitable for gaming across Xbox consoles, PCs and mobile devices.
Players can connect via 2.4GHz wireless or wired connection on Xbox and PC, while Bluetooth supports mobile gaming.
On PC, the controller supports polling rates of up to 1000Hz, allowing for more frequent communication between the controller and the connected system. However, this polling rate is PC-exclusive and isn't supported on Xbox consoles.
Another PC-exclusive feature is six-axis motion control, which can be mapped to the left or right analogue stick for additional input options.
It also includes a built-in 3.5mm audio jack for compatible wired headsets.
Integrated Wireless Charging Dock
The Ultimate 3 Controller comes bundled with an integrated wireless charging dock, providing a convenient way to store and recharge the controller between gaming sessions.
The dedicated charging dock means players won't need to rely solely on connecting a cable directly to the controller to charge its battery.
The package also includes a 2.4GHz wireless adapter, USB cable, and instruction manual, providing the essential accessories you need to get started.
Customisation Through 8BitDo Software
For players looking to fine-tune their gaming experience, the Ultimate 3 Controller supports 8BitDo Ultimate Software X and Ultimate Software V2 Mobile.
These software platforms add controller configuration options, letting users personalise settings and controls to match their preferred playstyle.
With adjustable joystick tension, trigger stops, and additional buttons, the Ultimate 3 offers a range of physical and software-based customisation features.
