HORI has officially unveiled the Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve Flight Stick, a brand-new flight controller designed to accompany the upcoming release of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. Scheduled to launch on October 2, 2026, the controller is built for players seeking a more immersive and authentic flight combat experience on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC.
Developed specifically for aerial combat, the flight stick combines precision controls, durable components, and dedicated gameplay features tailored to Bandai Namco’s long-running flight action series.
Designed for High-Speed Aerial Combat
At the heart of the controller are magnetic contactless Hall effect sensors, which provide highly accurate input while reducing wear over time. This technology helps deliver smoother control during intense dogfights and ensures greater long-term durability than traditional mechanical sensors.
The flight stick also features independent throttle and brake levers, allowing pilots to make rapid speed adjustments when engaging enemies, performing evasive manoeuvres, or lining up attack runs. These dedicated controls offer a more intuitive approach to managing aircraft speed during combat.
A standout addition is the Dedicated High-G Mode button, designed specifically for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. With a single press, players can instantly trigger High-G turns, enabling sharper manoeuvres during high-pressure engagements.
Ambidextrous Design and Customisation Options
HORI has opted for an ambidextrous, symmetrical layout, making the controller comfortable for both left-handed and right-handed players. The design aims to provide accessible operation regardless of preferred control style.
Players will also have access to customisable buttons and LED lighting, allowing them to tailor the controller to their personal preferences. The flight stick includes a twist-control mechanism for additional aircraft control and responsiveness during flight.
Twin-Stick Support for Advanced Pilots
For players looking to take their simulation experience even further, HORI has included support for optional twin-stick controls. By connecting two Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve Flight Sticks, users can unlock advanced dual-stick functionality in compatible simulator titles, enabling more complex manoeuvres and enhanced control options.
Officially Licensed Hardware
The Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve Flight Stick is officially licensed by Bandai Namco Entertainment, ensuring compatibility and integration with the upcoming title. HORI has also confirmed that its Sony licensing application is currently in progress.
