The countdown to Christmas is about to get a little more festive with the LEGO Santa's Holiday Countdown (40874). This charming 873-piece seasonal set combines a traditional Christmas decoration with a working perpetual calendar, giving LEGO fans a fun way to keep track of the days until Santa arrives.
Released on October 1, 2026, the set costs £54.99 in the UK and is designed for builders aged 10 and up.
Santa Is Getting Ready for Christmas
The LEGO Santa's Holiday Countdown (40874) captures a familiar Christmas scene: Santa Claus preparing to slide down a chimney to deliver presents.
The model features a snow-covered rooftop, a traditional chimney and a cheerful Santa with rosy pink cheeks. His sack of presents sits beside him, ready for the big night.
However, the main attraction is the countdown calendar built into the chimney itself. Rather than using disposable calendars or opening a different door each day, builders can turn knobs to rotate numbered blocks and update the countdown as Christmas approaches.
It's a simple but clever feature that transforms the finished model from a static decoration into something the whole family can interact with throughout December.
A Christmas Decoration You Can Use Every Year
With 873 pieces, Santa's Holiday Countdown offers a substantial festive building project to enjoy in the run-up to Christmas.
Once complete, the model measures over 20 cm (8 inches) high, 13 cm (5 inches) wide and 12 cm (5 inches) deep. Its relatively compact footprint makes it suitable for displaying on a mantelpiece, shelf or alongside other Christmas decorations.
Unlike a traditional LEGO Advent calendar, which typically includes 24 small builds or surprises, this set focuses on creating one larger decorative model with a reusable countdown mechanism.
The perpetual calendar also means there's no need to replace it each Christmas. Bring it out again the following year, reset the numbered blocks and start counting down all over again.
LEGO also suggests rebuilding the model each year as a family tradition, adding another way to enjoy the set beyond its initial construction.
A Festive Build for Older LEGO Fans
Recommended for ages 10 and up, LEGO Santa's Holiday Countdown targets older children, families, and anyone who enjoys seasonal LEGO displays.
The combination of a character build, snowy rooftop details, and an interactive calendar should make it an appealing festive-season project.
It could also make a great early Christmas gift, especially for LEGO fans who enjoy decorating their homes with brick-built holiday scenes.
While the set doesn't feature the daily surprises associated with a traditional Advent calendar, its reusable design offers a different take on the Christmas countdown.
