PS5 Pro to release Q4 2024

Rumours of a PS5 Pro in the works have been circulating in the gaming community for some time now. The PlayStation 5 has been out for almost two and a half years, and fans are already speculating about a potential upgraded version of the console. So, what do we know about the rumoured PS5 Pro, and is it worth getting excited about?

First, let's take a look at the evidence. Sony has a history of releasing upgraded versions of their consoles. They released the PlayStation 4 in 2013 and the PlayStation 4 Pro in 2016, which offered improved performance and graphics. Although Sony already has two variants of the PS5 console (disk and digital editions), which launched in 2020, we can expect a PS5 Pro to release in Q4 of 2024. Some speculators question whether we need a PS5 Pro, skipping straight to the successor, the PS6.

According to [Tom Henderson](https://twitter.com/_Tom_Henderson_), some sources in contact with him "confirm" that the PS5 Pro is in development, with a predicted release date during Q4 of 2024. With these sources being unnamed, the claim should be taken very lightly; however, Tom Henderson has had accurate claims in the past, shedding light on his name on social media and the gaming news industry for a year or two.

Specs and Performance of the PS5 Pro

The prominent rumours about the PS5 Pro suggest it will have more powerful hardware than the current PS5. The PS5 Pro would likely have a faster CPU, more RAM, and a more powerful GPU. This would allow games to run at higher resolutions, with more stable frame rates, and with more detailed graphics. Another rumour suggests that the PS5 Pro could have a larger storage capacity than the current PS5. The PS5 currently comes with 825GB of storage, which some users have found limiting. Although, the PS5 console's storage can be upgraded by installing a PS5-compatible M.2 SSD. An increased storage capacity would be a welcome addition for gamers who like to keep large game libraries on their consoles.

PS5 with Detachable Disc Drive to release Q4 2023

The contradictory part of the rumoured PS5 Pro being in development is how numerous claims have been made over the last few months about a new PS5 model with a detachable disc drive under development, targeting a Q4 2023 release date. It is expected that Sony (PlayStation) will announce this new PS5 model with a detachable disc drive in a showcase, most likely including further details and gameplay of the highly-anticipated Spider-Man 2 video game. If this new PS5 model is released toward the end of 2023, would the PS5 Pro become more unlikely to become part of reality?

Is PS5 Pro worth the wait?

If you still need a PS5, should you hold off on buying one in anticipation of a potential PS5 Pro release? It depends on your personal preferences. If you're a hardcore gamer who values the best possible performance and graphics, it might be worth waiting to see what Sony has in store. However, suppose you're happy with the current version of the PS5; there's no reason to wait, especially as the PS5 Pro rumours aren't hard evidence, which, even if it were, a Q4 2024 release date is a long time to wait.

In conclusion, the rumours of a PS5 Pro are certainly intriguing. Suppose the rumours are accurate; we could be looking at a console that offers even better performance and graphics than the already-impressive PS5. However, until Sony confirms the existence of a PS5 Pro, we can only speculate about what it might entail.
