A Stealth Classic Returns
Originally developed by Looking Glass Studios, Thief: The Dark Project helped redefine stealth gaming when it launched in 1998. Rather than encouraging players to fight their way through enemies, the game placed a heavy emphasis on remaining undetected, using shadows and sound to navigate dangerous environments.
Players take on the role of Garrett, a cynical master thief who relies on stealth, careful planning, and an assortment of specialised tools to complete missions and steal valuable treasures.
Developed by Nightdive Studios, Thief: The Dark Project Remastered brings the classic experience to modern platforms using the studio's proprietary KEX Engine.
The remaster includes the original Thief: The Dark Project, all additional content from Thief Gold, and an entirely new campaign created by the team behind The Black Parade expansion.
Players can expect improved textures, character models, animations, and other visual enhancements, alongside several quality-of-life improvements. These include a new weapons and items wheel and a mission selector.
The game's signature stealth mechanics remain central to the experience, with enemies reacting to sounds, communicating with one another, and raising alarms when they detect suspicious activity. Missions also feature three difficulty settings, each offering different objectives to encourage replayability.
